The Menomena album cover was illustrated by Craig Thompson. The sleeve has different illustrations on each of its 4 sides and by interacting and rotating the disc you get variations of the artwork.

Sleeves

Of course, it doesn't have to be CD cases that enclose a disc. A simple sleeve can look equally as effective. This is something I want to experiment with, with different stocks and colours.

This isn't a CD sleeve, but I really like the foil blocked outer slipcase that holds the promotion brochure - by Timothy Saccenti

After looking into the 'fun package' idea to promote laughter, I have since decided to narrow down the fun pack, to the most important product in there - the laughter audio CD. I have bought a CD with 60 minutes of pure laughter (30 different types of laughter) because after researching into laughter and finding that it is very good for your health and that listening to others laughing is very contagious, it is something that I want to promote. The idea of bringing laughter therapy to your own home and simply taking the time out to play the CD is where I want to take this. So I have been looking at existing CD cover designs that grabbed my attention.

This cd case is an example of how there is no need to send anything other than the cd, but my main aim is to still have fun with the packaging.

Simplicity, colour and type can be all that's needed. (Sun Electric released Lost & Found with a custom typeface design on the cover)

Or a CD can be represented through a single image, like below. (Compact disc sleeve design for 'Simple Sounds')

stocks, shapes and lovely boxes!

'fun packaging'

Pattern - a natural skin cleanser

VitaMeal - fun packaging for healthy foods - aimed at children - designed by Irina Ivanova

Bossa Nova have produced a juice drink from an 'acia' - a rainforest berry - that has the title of the "world's healthiest fruit". I wanted to include the design because I think it is relevant to my healthy laughter promotion as it is trying to bring an unknown extremely healthy fruit into our everyday lives through a simple, contemporary fruit juice design. And I am wanting to promote the concept that people often forget, or just don't realise - that 'laughter is good for your health' - through a fun, unique packaging design.

Ronny Poon design - "A fun package for toddlers’ Converse shoes. It helps improve children’s motor skills by allowing the child to lace-up the box. When 5 boxes are collected they can be placed together to form the Converse star."

Clever little designs

Tord Boontje - 'Wednesday Light' packaging - the artwork for the original version of Boontje's iconic light was created as a photogram and has been wrapped seamlessly around the box to create a flowing 3D image.

Counter Editions packaging - the unbranded external packaging was devised to provide maximum protection and not to draw attention to its valuable contents. The silk screened interior combines additional protection with instructions for handling.

Aquatanica bath and body works shows that packaging designs don't have to be on a label on the side - it can be all about the lid.

Benefit Champion International Paper - this project involved producing a line of recycled papers, which included the colours and paper finishes, as well as all the groundbreaking marketing and promotion.

First Act Instrumental Cable Packaging might sound dull but they have introduced an amusing design to make the product stand out from the other brands on the shelves.

Barnes & Noble

I added this onto the end of the post because I think it's a good example where the packaging label links in strongly with the product set of authentic bottle conditioned Belgian ales.
